But it didn't smell like bait. What's 'bait'? It's been snowing and very cold during the last week. When I took Arthur out for a walk last night, I felt obliged to let him off his leash to run freely, in an open downtown plaza nearby. After 7:00PM the Financial District turns into a ghost town so conditions are perfect for bending the law. He wandered around a tree, sniffing the plants popping through the snow. I looked over and noticed he was now chewing something, and I was shocked to see his tongue was a bright shade of blue! I had my arm down his throat immediately to rake the blue-goo from his mouth! I extracted one of the blue chunks from his slobbery mouth, dropped it in my pocket and ran him back home. After frantically searching online my-dog-just-ate resources, I determined it was RAT POISON… awesome. As per Web Vet, I needed to induce vomiting to eliminate the stomach of anything he may have ingested. So there we were in the kitchen, me pouring hydrogen peroxide down my poor unsuspecting, but so accommodating, Arthur's throat. I stroked his back while I watched him lose his dinner, not to mention his dignity. It took a while but he managed to settle down in the kitchen, looking wrecked and confused. PAW PROPS TO: Duane Reade, 20 Water Street for being open 24 hours! Rang me up fast and assured me “Arthur will probably be fine,” AND they allow dogs in the store! About Me
- Doggone Arthur
- I'm Arthur, a Golden Retriever. I was rescued from the streets of Taiwan through the efforts of Golden Retriever Rescue and many kind volunteers in Taiwan. I understand Mandarin and English but cannot speak either. I have the innate ability to smell anything 'round' and I consider myself a real foodie as I'm willing to try just about anything edible. I was adopted by my human in 2009, my human ROCKS; together, we are on a special mission in rounding me into a stellar 'urban dog'! This blog is dedicated to my journey in urban development and the humans who make it possible.
